Search the exact entity
Ask for the legal contracting name and license number, then use the official NCLBGC route. Compare status, classification, limitation, qualifier, and any displayed business details with the proposal. A salesperson, trade name, related company, or subcontractor may not be the licensed entity that signs.
Match records across the project
The contract, permit when applicable, insurance evidence, invoices, payments, warranties, and closeout should make the responsible entity understandable. Ask who supervises and performs the work. Do not transfer a license or insurance claim from one company to another because their names look related.
Treat verification as dated
