Build the event timeline
Record first discovery, weather, affected room or exterior face, spread, debris, sound, odor, and prior intervention. Preserve original photographs and add labels in a separate index. Do not stage water, remove material, or enter an unsafe attic to make the evidence more dramatic.
Set access boundaries
Identify authorized interior and attic access, gates, tenants, pets, parking, landscaping, overhead lines, shared areas, alarms, and work-hour limits. The provider decides roof and ladder access. The property contact should know who can authorize openings or changed work.
Gather the roof record
Collect contracts, permits, inspection records, product documents, repair invoices, warranty correspondence, plans, storm dates, insurer messages, and photographs before concealed work. Mark unknown ages or materials as unknown rather than estimating from appearance.
Define the requested deliverable
Ask whether the visit produces photographs, roof-zone labels, observed conditions, access limitations, repair alternatives, replacement rationale, measurements, a proposal, or a separate report. A verbal walk-through and a documented inspection are different products.
Put the roof question into words
Have the property type, safe observation, date, and existing records ready. Ask the recipient to identify the company and confirm whether the address and roof concern fit its work.
Raleigh Roofing Comparison Desk is a roofing information and referral publisher, not the roofing contractor. A call may connect you with an independent provider or call service. Confirm the recipient, Raleigh coverage, service fit, credentials, insurance, availability, price, permit responsibility, and contract terms before authorizing work.
